California

On May 22, our son, Ryan, graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College in California. Even though we live far from our children in the States, when possible, we want to be part of significant events in their lives. So Maggie and I made a quick trip west. Our son, Ethan is also studying at CCBC. We arrived several days before the graduation and enjoyed meeting our sons' friends and their teachers, sitting in on their last missions class, and experiencing a little of their world.
(Maggie, Ethan, Nate, and Ryan.)
Graduation day was special! Ryan recieved his diploma along with about ninety other graduates. We thank God for the training and mentoring he received during his two years of study. Ryan will be spending this summer working at the CCBC as he seeks the Lord about the next step in God's plan for his life.
(The graduates.)
We were also privileged to meet Ryan's girl friend, Chelsea. Chelsea and Ryan were in the same graduating class. After the graduation her parents invited us to attend a party in honor of their daughter.

During our time in California, we were also able to help Ethan wrap up final details for a move to Colorado to assist in a church plant and the work of a wilderness youth camp. It was fun to talk with him and be part of the excitement of the step of faith he is taking. He also has a ministry blog http://www.theethanreport.blogspot.com/ in which he will be posting updates.
(Frozen yogurt - what a treat!)

(Maggie attempts to sleep at the airport.)
We left San Diego at 5:00 p.m. which meant spending seven hours during the night at the airport in Chicago. We found out that there just isn't any good way to sleep in an airport. We arrived in the Dominican Republic tired but so grateful to have been able to have made the trip to California.
