Living in the D.R.

A highschool student from Wisconsin learns how to make casabe, a traditional Dominican bread.
Casabe is made by grating yucca ( a root crop similar to a potato), forming it into cakes, and then baking it over a fire. Casabe has been made here for centuries. It is often eaten by dipping it in soup or coffee.
An outreach team leader gets his shoes shined in the park.
Shoe shine boys walk through town with their box of shoe shining supplies. The money that they earn often goes to help sustain the family.

Maggie buys vegetables at the vegetable market.
We buy most of our vegetables from a vendor at the vegetable market. The vendor buys from small growers who bring their produce in on the back of motorcyles or pickups. Eddie, the vendor we normally deal with, does his best to get us good quality produce.

yes, living in the DR is amazing, nothing comes close to it. Maybe you could take a picture of a motorcycle carrying a washing machine or something like that. Please know I am praying for you.

love ya!

Hey, I know that WI girl, it's Rebekah! I will have to let her know.
...I am totally having DR withdrawals. The kids are slowly adjusting. We will be doing a presentation about our trip Sunday at church. Continue to lift you up in prayers along with the people of the DR.
