"It's a miracle!" That's what the newsman said during a local newscast as he reported on the car accident Francisco's wife, Yemi, had last week. Everyone who was at the scene of the accident or who later saw the wrecked car says the same thing, "It's a miracle!"
Early on the 5th of June, Yemi was on her way to take her children to school. As they entered Jarabacoa, they met several neighbor boys who were walking, also on their way to school. Yemi stopped and picked them up. She resumed driving, and as the now six children got settled into their seats, she got distracted and swerved off the road. She ran into the end of a guard rail which caught the hood, crumpled it, and rammed it through the windshield and out the back window. Those who first came to the wreckage, expected to find the occupants of the car dead. Although Yemi and the children recieved multiple cuts, scrapes and bruises to the head and upper body, all survived. After a short hospital stay, they were able to return home. Truely, it's a miracle.
Francisco, leads the Students International art ministry. He is a man who loves God passionately and is an inspiration for all of us. We praise God for sparing his family and pray that somehow through all of this, He will recieve glory.

I can remember meetiing Nate, back in 1991 at the Guru Java ministry in West Lafayette, Indiana. It was a great hangout where we could all get together, have a cup of coffee and some cookies and listen to good music, or read poetry or whatever. Mostly it was a place where we could get together and talk. No booze, no hang-ups just friends. Back in those days we'd all share a group hug and as a matter of fact if someone didn't get a hug, something was wrong. Nate went by the handle "Zaphod" on the local Bulletin Boards (yes, in those days we didn't have Blogs... and WWW was probably a wrestling organization). It was a time before Windows Vista... before Windows 95 even. Computer Geek Dark Ages or nearly so. Can you imagine Nate chubby with long hair? Well I sure can. Of course as for myself I was about 50 pounds lighter and wore my hair scruffy and semi-long. (this was before I started wearing Khakis... long before I became a US Soldier). We hung out with hippies and punk rockers, we listened to the Ramones, Dead Milkmen, DK, and other bands most of you've never heard of. We were the kind of folks who'd jump in a station wagon at 2am and drive 20 minutes to the other side of town to get coffee and late night breakfast. Now we've pretty much all went our seperate ways... but I tell you. Every one of us that I knew from that crowd that I run into is doing their part to make the world a place really worth living in. I am so proud of all of my friends back then, especially Nate who is living the lifestyle that he is showing others is the right life. Put your hand in His and give Him your heart, your love, your trust and your obedience. Bless yoou all, and remember the Mohab of the good old days...
Paradox crow,
I enjoyed your call from Baghdad, however, I think you have the wrong Nate Slabach. In 1991, I was 31 years old, living in Middlebury, Indiana, teaching at New Life Christian Academy, and our fifth child had just been born. It's been good hearing from you, though, and I hope that you find the Nate Slabach you are really looking for.
Nate
NATE,
I am so thankful that Yemi and the children are ok. God's hand was with them obviously. It would have been an awful tragedy. Looking forward to seeing you all in a few days!
