This summer again we have included an evening of evangelistic ministry in our two-week outreach program. On that evening, the outreach teams show evangelistic videos, do clown and puppet shows, give testimonies, share Bible stories, and give out literature.
As we began to plan and pray for this event, we sensed God directing us to target three separate communities - communities in which also are working or have worked in sports, dentistry, and medicine. We will be visiting these communities seven different times through out the summer.
In
the first community, God gave us favor with the director of the public school. He has given us permission to not only use the school, but he also suggested that we come to the school during class time to invite the children to come to the activities. When we arrived at the school with our first program, we were overwhelmed as nearly four hundred children crowded into the school yard.
In the second community, a pastor who has a passion for evangelism asked us, "Will you please come to my neighborhood to show your videos, do your puppet shows, and share Jesus with the people?" We told him that we would be
And in the third community, the owner of a spacious restaurant/bar is allowing us to use his facility for the evangelistic activities. Those who frequent this bar, come to party, gamble, and pick up women. Last week, 125 children and 30 adults were ministered to there as we shared testimonies, a clown act, a Bible story, and gospel literature. It is exhilarating to proclaim the message of the Gospel in a place of such spiritual darkness.
God is at work! He is pushing back the darkness. He is giving us favor. He is springing open doors of opportunity. We recognize that it's not a Students International thing - it's a God thing!
Pray for Jarabacoa. Pray for an outpouring of God's Spirit. Pray for transformation, redemption, and healing for the peoples of the Dominican Republic.

Nate- I am trying to hide the tears of joy that are coming from my eyes as I read this entry... After being there last summer and seeing opportunities that opened, I am very excited to see what the Lord will do this summer. Wow! God is sooo good! If you could email a list of the towns/places you will be visiting or at least the day of the week you will be there, I would love to pray more intentionally for the community outreaches.
On another note- enjoy your time with Lindsi, yes, she is a little crazy stepping in as a pseudosummer intern, but we all know she has a servants heart.
Love ya!
