Maria Update

With monies from the Maria Fund, we were able to construct a work table and shelves for Maria to work from as she prepares jello and other food items to sell. Ron Lanier (center) and his boys, from Chicago, provided the labor. Maria loves the blue color we chose for the table. Francisco from the S.I. art ministry, made a sign to be hung on Maria's house, advertizing the things she has to sell. It's a work of art beyond what we expected!
When we invested the funds needed to purchase the tools Maria would need to start her small business, our concern was whether she would put forth the effort necessary to make it a success. We're happy to say that she has done just that. She even puts her little cups of Jello and packets of Skim Ice in a cooler and takes it to neighboring schools to sell to the children during their lunch break.
It's wonderful to see hope and self worth being restored as she has the opportunity to provide for her family.
