Students International did a special outreach to Jarabacoa's firemen. We learned that the firemen here aren't as respected as they are in the States. In light of this, we sensed the Lord giving us the idea of hosting a special event to honor the firemen and to use this as a way to also minister to them spiritually. We planned a special dinner and invited all of the town's firemen.
On the evening of the event, sixteen firemen showed up. We served them a delicious Dominican meal complete with a favorite rice dish, chicken, potato salad, and a desert. After the meal we showed them the new "Fireproof" movie which has a solid evangelistic message. They loved the movie. When we spoke to them about their need for Jesus, they were very attentive. Following the movie we presented a certificate of appreciation to each fireman present. One of our staff members, Raul, formerly was a member of the Dominican air force. We had him present the certificates dressed in his military uniform. We also had a New Testament for each of the firemen. We concluded the evening with a drawing for a baseball glove and several other gifts.
We all came away from this event so excited, because we knew God had used us to impact these firemen in a significant way. I posted a short video clip of the firemen's dinner on the previous post.

This is really cool!
That had to be a night to remember. I know the saints in Heaven were rejoicing! Great idea and wonderful outreach that will no doubt have positive outcomes for the Kingdom.
