Finally Leak Proof
When Students International purchased the property that now holds the new ministry base, they purchased it from a famous Dominican general, Perez y Perez. On the property was a large two-level house that the general had built for a vacation home. Our director, Lowell Troyer and his family live on the upper level, and the lower level is used for guest housing. However, the house has had a leaky roof. Every time there was rain, the Troyers would have to move their bed to keep it from getting soaked, and a large puddle of water would form in the kitchen. The house really needed a new roof.
In October, George Hofsommer lined up a crew of guys from Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania and raised the funds for the roof project. They tore off the old tile sections and replaced it with new metal roofing.
In the week leading up to the team's arrival, we had gotten five different rain storms. We knew that if the rain continued, it would stall the roofing project. But we committed it to the Lord, and he mercifully gave us the sunny days we needed.
George, Willie, Carl, David, Simon, Phil and son, Bud, Kip, and Richelle - we so appreciate everything you did for us during your week in the Dominican Republic.
