Day at the River

The staff care team, Nate and Luis, have begun to organize activities that help foster a sense of family among the Students International staff. They have felt that it is easy to spend time together in ministry, but that it is also important to grow in our relationships with each other outside of a ministry context.

One of the first activities that they planned was a day at the river. They borrowed inner tubes for floating down the river, and arranged for someone to put together a "sancocho" for lunch. A sancocho is a stew containing several types of meat, various root crops (yucca, potatoes, yautia, etc.) , plantains, and seasonings.

The weather was perfect, and the event seemed to be enjoyed by all.

Francisco helps get the fire started for cooking the rice and sancocho.

Doctor Fernando, floats along in one of the calm areas of the river.

Francisco's son, Natanael, and Jose & Vanesa's daughter, Marcela, enjoy their time at the river as well.
