Yesterday, Maggie and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. At about ll:30 a.m. Maggie commented that twenty-nine years ago at that moment we were repeating our marriage vows at the Mennonite Church in Montezuma, Georgia. We were young (21 and 22 years old), in love, and ready to commit our lives to each other - "till death do us part".
Maggie has been one of the greatest gifts that God has given to me. She has been faithful and has loved me in spite of my faults. She has helped complete me and balance my personality. She has been a wonderful mother to our five children. She is a lover of God. She has been willing to embrace sacrifice for the sake of God's call. Together we have pursued on-the-edge ministry adventures - adventures that have taken us to the Dominican Republic. Sometimes I ask her, "Maggie, can we stay married for at least fifty more years?" and she laughs and says, "yes".
Recently, I was filling out the parent part of an application for student aid/scholarship for our daughter, Andrea. I came to the line where the application asked me to list my current assets (properties, investments, etc). Well, for a fifty-one year old, maybe I don't have that much. But then what about a faithful, committed, God-honoring, gracious wife? How much is she worth to me? Five hundred thousand dollars, a million dollars, ten million? She's worth that and much more! I'm rich!

That was really sweet Nate! I'm so blessed and comforted to know that Ethan has such great role models for marriage. It was always my prayer that my husband would come from a home like mine! I praise God for you and Maggie!
